Interestingly, a service provider won the top award last week at the annual Enterprise Connect conference, recognized for technological advancements in enterprise communications and collaboration. Sprint's Workplace-as-a-Service, a newly integrated and fully managed IT and communications service, won the Best of Enterprise Connect award.
The honor could highlight a growing role for service providers in unified communications. Workplace-as-a-Service essentially packages all technology into one service for new and existing offices, including phone systems, Wi-Fi, mobile devices, email, conferencing, collaboration tools, networks and data plans.
"Being selected as Best of Enterprise Connect validates our belief that Workplace-as-a-Service is not only innovative, but has the potential to be very disruptive in the marketplace," said Mike Fitz, vice president of business solutions at Sprint, in a statement.
In this video, Sprint's new offering is highlighted, as are products from two other award finalists: Acano and IBM.
Acano Open was nominated for bringing Lync and virtually all non-Lync users together in one communications experience. IBM Verse was nominated for revamping enterprise email with analytics, social, meetings, mobile and prioritization capabilities.
