Unify updates UC platforms for SMB, midmarket

Unify is expanding its market reach by updating its OpenScape UC platforms for channel partner resale to SMB and midmarket organizations.

Unify has updated its OpenScape UC platforms portfolio for small and midsize businesses and midmarket organizations. The updates promise expanded features and easier deployment.

The SMB and midmarket segments are some of the fastest-growing areas of business and need technology to improve productivity and enable a mobile workforce, said Rolf Mueller, vice president of SME product management at Unify.

The updates come as Unify shifts its focus to become more channel-oriented. Mueller said smaller organizations are embracing channel partners as they tend to lack the internal resources and budgets to deploy UC technology on their own.

Alaa Saayed, Frost & Sullivan unified communications and collaboration industry manager, said Unify's push to expand SMB and midmarket opportunities for channel partners is in line with the company's vision of what he called "partnering for growth."

By strengthening its channel partnerships, Unify will be able to expand its reach into new markets, scale more rapidly, increase revenue and compete better, Saayed said.

OpenScape Business S is a software-based UC platform aimed at SMBs that supports up to 1,500 users. The platform includes UC features like voice, conferencing, Web collaboration, video, presence, mobility and multi-channel contact center capabilities. The platform includes Unify's myPortal to go application, which offers VoIP client capabilities and allows users to be reached by a single number on all devices. The platform will be available through Unify's channel partners in July.

OpenScape Enterprise Express is an enterprise platform that can be scaled down for midmarket organizations. It currently supports 2,000 users with plans to scale up to 8,000 users. Features include voice, messaging and optional contact center capabilities. The platform also includes OpenScape Mobile and can be deployed on-premises or in the cloud. OpenScape Enterprise Express is currently available through Unify's channel partners.

Unify is also making software and hardware support services available through channel resale. The support resale program is presently in the U.S., U.K. and Germany with plans to expand to other regions.
