Fusion announces improvements to FusionWorks Pro UC

Fusion delivered enhancements to its UCaaS platform, FusionWorks Pro UC, developed on the company's Single Source cloud services platform.

Fusion Connect Inc. updated its unified communications-as-a-service platform to improve enterprise productivity, including features such as a new softphone and expanded conferencing and collaboration capabilities.

FusionWorks Pro UC is developed on the company's Single Source cloud services platform, which offers cloud communications, cloud connectivity and cloud computing, and expands upon its MobileConnect UC offering, according to the vendor.

The unified communications as a service (UCaaS) platform combines cloud-based voice with video, instant messaging, presence and online conferencing. It is intended to simplify collaboration for the enterprise by integrating features like conferencing, collaboration and messaging in one application accessible on Windows PCs, MAC OS X, iPhone, iPad and Android phones and tablets.

According to Fusion, its UCaaS platform's new conferencing and collaboration offering promises to increase productivity for internal meetings and remote conferences regardless of the participants' geographical location and their device. The updates includes:

  • flexible pass-presenter controls, video layout options and video-floor assignment capabilities for presenters
  • multiple ways for guests to join conferences, such as through web browser, MobileConnect client or guest client
  • screen share and presenter controls for guests
  • audio conferencing recording for mobile and desktop
  • conference owners can start collaboration sessions from any device

UCaaS platforms are built to help customers design and manage a broad range of communications technology and infrastructure. The UCaaS market is growing, but as cloud technologies develop, businesses are upgrading their communications and collaboration tools from on premises to the cloud.

Major competitors of Fusion in the market for unified communications platforms include Microsoft and Cisco. Microsoft's Skype for Business offers secured, complete unified communications features as well as interoperability with legacy video teleconferencing systems. Cisco, whose portfolio includes Cisco UC Integration for Microsoft Lync promises instant access to its capabilities directly from Microsoft Skype for Business or Microsoft Lync UC Clients.
