How can I resolve a compatibility issue between our VocalTec gateways and our carrier's Cisco gatewa

We are using VocalTec gateways as originating gateways and our carrier uses Cisco for terminating gateways. But they must use some higher version Cisco IOS, as there seems to be a compatibility problem between VocalTec gateways and Cisco gateways. I would like to know if we can use a softswitch, for instance, the Mera MVTS, as a transit gateway to solve this problem? Do you have any other solutions?

To make any viable recommendation, the interoperability problem needs to be thoroughly understood. It is best to contact VocalTec technical support and to provide them with signaling traces (e.g. SIP and call flow captured by Ethereal). They can likely help analyze the problem and help you understand the type of compatibility problem. They may be able to recommend a software update or configuration change to help solve the problem. If VocalTec does not offer a solution but helps you understand the problem, it is possible for you to then share the problem along with supporting data to the carrier to see if they can make any setting changes for your specific account to allow things to interoperate.
