Carrier Sensitive Routing

DEFINITION -

Carrier Sensitive Routing (CSR) is an application that allows VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) subscribers to determine and manipulate the routing of individual calls. CSR can maximize cost effectiveness and Quality of Service (QoS) because the routing can be tailored to fit the attributes of the particular carrier used.

CSR consists of three components: a graphical user interface (GUI), the CSR application program and a PostgreSQL database. The GUI and the application are directly connected to the database. The GUI can run on Sun/Solaris or Microsoft NT platforms and allows the user to enter, delete or modify database content. The application provides the interface to the network gatekeeper. The database stores all of the information associated with the application, which sets up call routing based on input from the gatekeeper.
