The silver award for IP telephony systems went to IP Telephony from Avaya. According to the company, the system is intended to reduce the complexity and cost of communications while increasing the reach and capabilities of midsized businesses. Based on the Communication Manager software platform, which relies on session initiation protocol (SIP) for integration of communication applications, Avaya's solutions also extend to enterprise solutions and unification of call centers.
Avaya's claims of effective IP telephony seemed to resonate with our survey respondents, as more than 80% awarded the system's voice quality four or five stars on a five-star scale. Readers were also happy with the system's IP communications/messaging capabilities; 67% of respondents gave the product four or five stars for that criterion.
Several users also commented on the product's reliability: "Solid product with a solid product roadmap," remarked one reader, while another enthused, "Avaya never breaks -- rock solid."
