ShoreTel offers Google Chrome integration with G Suite

In UC news, ShoreTel integrates its Connect platform with Google G Suite, while RingCentral Glip achieves HIPAA compliance for secure team chat in healthcare.

ShoreTel has launched a Google Chrome integration that fuses its Connect unified communications platform to Google G Suite collaboration applications.

By downloading the extension in Google Chrome, ShoreTel Connect users can combine their ShoreTel and G Suite contacts into a single list to streamline workflows and collaboration. The Google Chrome integration offers call control that allows users to search contacts, dial and control calls from within the browser and see the presence status of their contacts.

Users can create and join ShoreTel events from Google Calendar. By clicking on a notification within the calendar, users can join a Web conference where they can share screens and collaborate via group chat. 

The Google Chrome integration is available at no additional cost to Connect CLOUD and Connect ONSITE customers with Essentials, Standard and Advanced product plans. The integration is enabled by downloading the ShoreTel Connect extension from the Google Chrome web store.

Glip offers secure team chat in healthcare

RingCentral's team chat app Glip is now Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliant, offering healthcare professionals secure team chat and collaboration. Healthcare professionals can use the team chat app to communicate on any device and maintain HIPAA and HITRUST compliance.

RingCentral Glip, part of the RingCentral Office cloud phone system, lets healthcare workers share content for real-time discussion; share patient records; manage tasks; schedule patient appointments via a shared group calendar; view peer availability; and contact patients via click-to-call within the app.

Patrick Carter, chief medical officer at ChartSpan Medical Technologies, said the Greenville, S.C.-based health records company is rolling out Glip to streamline collaboration among physicians, nurses, management staff and patients.

NetFortris acquires Fonality

Unified communications provider NetFortris has acquired UC as a service provider Fonality.

NetFortris offers UCaaS, managed network services, security and other specialized apps for enterprises of all sizes. Fonality offers UCaaS to small and midsize organizations. The combined company will create a provider that offers UCaaS, security and network management services in one bundle.

The company will have operating centers in three countries and provide services to more than 11,000 customers and 300,000 end users in 41 countries. NetFortris CEO Grant Evans will maintain leadership of the combined company and headquarters will be split between Seattle and Dallas.

Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
