As unified communications (UC) is a relatively new topic, there is still discussion about what really makes up UC, confusing end users and companies planning to implement UC. In this edition of Reality Check, Tony Bradley, director of security at Evangelyze Communications, discusses the definition of UC and whether or not VoIP/IP PBX is required.

In the podcast, he examines the recent release of Microsoft's Office Communications Server 2007 R2 and the effect it will have on the PBX. Tony also discusses best practices for UC implementation from the company's standpoint, such as why he prefers a phased process to deployment of the entire UC system at once.
