What would happen to my VoIP service if the network failed?

Most VoIP systems have some type of failover to the POTS network. But if your network completely failed you would likely lose your VoIP, in the same way that if your PBX failed you would lose all your voice calls until repair. That said – short of a tornado or other natural disaster it would be extremely rare for an entire network to fail. More than likely, a failure would involve only certain components of the network.
