EXPERT RESPONSE
Well that's a rather big can of worms. The technologies are certainly seeing a merge. The idea is the competition for your dollars. Whoever has the best tools wins. The biggest constraint right now is locality. Services in one city will vary greatly from the services available in another.
When you add things like BoPL (broadband over power lines) which can interfere with short wave signals, the technology becomes a key factor in usability and stability. My suggestion is to discuss this with your Public Service Commission and any potential providers. Systems are generally built with certain capabilities to support certain technologies. While an infrastructure may "technically" be capable of supporting any given technology, you have no guarantee that the active electronics behind such an endeavor are even part of the same project.
