How do I calculate bandwidth for VoIP?

When calculating the bandwidth required for VoIP it is important to include the overhead from the lower layer protocols that carry the voice traffic. For example, if you're running VoIP over an Ethernet LAN, you have to account for the overhead due to Ethernet, IP, and RTP. A good VoIP bandwidth calculator is available at:
