This Cisco Call Manager uses Cisco's proprietary SCCP (also known as Skinny) protocol. The Call Manager works as part of Cisco's solution to provide IP Telephony with many of the functions of a PBX system for an enterprise. The Cisco SIP Proxy server provides basic proxy functions and would have to work in conjunction with a third party SIP based IP PBX. The Cisco Call Manager runs on Windows. The Cisco SIP Proxy runs on Linux and Unix platforms.
