Things such as high packet loss, delay, and jitter can cause poor voice quality. In any VoIP application, these have to be minimized to a level that is acceptable to the particular users. Wireless applications and lower bandwidth links between offices require special consideration. Quality of service mechanisms must usually be employed to help improve performance.
